Waldo County Commissioners Office Assistant Clerk - Full Time

Description

The Waldo County Commissionerís office has an opening for an Assistant Clerk position. The Assistant Clerk performs a wide variety of tasks which are vital to the overall operations of the County Commissionerís office. Works directly under the supervision of the County Clerk. Must have excellent written, electronic and oral communication skills. Must be accurate, show attention to detail, interact politely and professionally with others, and exhibit excellent office skills. Must understand and comply with all areas of confidentiality.

Job Related Skills and Qualifications

  • Education/Training: Minimum two (2) years of administrative office experience or secondary education in business administration, and/or combination of training, education and experience.
  • Excellent computer skills; particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Publisher.
  • Ability to prepare budget spreadsheets in Excel and be proficient in mathematics.
  • Excellent communications skills - verbal, written and electronic.
  • Excellent general office skills such as letter-writing, memos, spreadsheets, answering telephones, filing, etc.
  • Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Possess good judgment and discernment in dealing with delicate and confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and with others in a very small office under sometimes stressful conditions and numerous deadlines in a professional, respectful manner.
  • Interact with all other County departments in a professional manner.
  • Be able to prioritize and multi-task as necessary.
  • Be able to adjust to changes in Commissioners as elected terms start and finish.
  • Possess a valid State of Maine driverís license and be willing to drive for occasional meetings and trainings.
  • Pass criminal and motor vehicle background checks.
  • Work generally 35 hours from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On rare occasions, evenings and or Saturday during budget season.

Preferred:
  • Ability to transcribe meeting minutes from audio recording and/or written notes.
